Importance of Technical Education in Purnia
In today’s era, having technical knowledge along with a degree is crucial for the youth. Purnia district has approximately 4 government ITI colleges for men and 1 women’s industrial training institute. This means a total of 5 government ITI colleges are present in Purnia district. Students need to enroll in different trades in these training centers. Applicants must be at least 10th pass to enroll in these colleges. The principal of the Industrial Training Institute located in Maranga Biada, Purnia, E. Santosh Kumar, mentioned that in the last 5 years, over 74 students have been selected in government departments. All selected students are being offered an annual package of over 7 lakhs. These students have been selected in various government departments like the Indian Railways Recruitment Board and the Air Force. The institute offers 2-year and 1-year courses, including Electrician Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, AC Technician, Mechanic Diesel, and Welder courses.
Efforts for Employment in Purnia
The principal, E. Santosh Kumar, mentioned that efforts are being made to provide employment opportunities to students. The institute organizes Prime Minister’s Apprentice Melas sponsored by the Central Government, where students are selected for campus placements by local and external employers. Selected students are offered a monthly salary ranging from ₹21,000 to ₹25,000 along with additional incentives. The institute has also collaborated with the Labor Resources Department in Bihar, Patna, and the TATA TECH Team to provide more job opportunities to students. Construction of Tata Tech workshops is underway in all ITIs to provide short-term training to students for quick placements. The Tata Tech workshop has already been established in the ITI Purnia training center, and the training for the first batch will commence on April 1, 2024, to provide more placement and employment opportunities to students in the future.
