This article discusses the ongoing election in Bihar, focusing on Jatatari village, which continues to lack basic facilities despite promises from leaders.

In Bihar’s Munger district, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary is running for the assembly elections from Tarapur. While the political buzz is high, attention is drawn to Jatatari village, which is still waiting for development even after many years of independence.

Jatatari, located in the Ramanakabad Western Panchayat, is home to around 150 tribal families. Although every household has a tap water connection, not a single drop of water has been delivered in the last two years. Villagers still have to walk long distances to fetch water, as both the handpump and summer water sources are broken.

The situation regarding health facilities is quite dire as well. There are no health centers or ambulances in the village. Whenever someone falls ill or needs medical help, they must travel to Kharagpur, which is about 8 kilometers away. Many times, patients face serious issues on the way to seek treatment.

Most villagers depend on farming and collecting forest produce for their livelihood. Their homes are mostly kutcha (temporary), and many have not benefited from government housing schemes like Indira Awas Yojana. Although there is a primary school and an Anganwadi center, children often play in muddy surroundings while studying.

Despite these challenges, villagers express hope that the current government will fulfill its promises. They believe that real development starts from villages like Jatatari, even if they are not highlighted in election speeches. The focus now is on whether the leaders will deliver on their commitments this time around.

Summary:

  • Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary is contesting elections in Munger.

  • Jatatari village lacks basic facilities like water and health services.

  • Villagers have to travel far for medical assistance.

  • Most homes are temporary, and many have not received housing benefits.

  • Villagers hope the government will keep its promises this election.
