What’s inside:

This article discusses a protest by Jeevika women in Nawada, Bihar, over unpaid funds from a government scheme.

In Nawada, Bihar, a large group of Jeevika didis gathered outside the Jeevika office in Sirdala market on Wednesday. They were upset because they had not received funds from the Chief Minister Employment Generation Scheme. Women from different panchayats came together to express their anger towards the government.

The protesting women said they were promised payments for two to three months but received nothing. They claimed that their applications were not processed online and many were told they were not part of the Jeevika Group, which added to their frustration. When they entered the office to seek answers, the staff locked the main gate and left, which further fueled their anger.

Women from 15 panchayats, including individuals like Manju Didi, Ranju Didi, and Babita, highlighted that they have been part of the Jeevika group since 2011. Despite their long involvement, about 1100 women have not received the benefits they were promised under the scheme. They warned that if their issues are not resolved, they might take to the streets and block traffic to make their voices heard.

In response to the allegations, the Area Coordinator Rajkumar dismissed them as false. He stated that an investigation would clarify the situation. However, the anger among the women continues to grow, and they remain firm in their demands for justice.

As the protest unfolds, it remains to be seen how the government will address the concerns of these women. The situation is tense, and the women are determined to push for their rights and the benefits they believe they deserve.
