Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren responds to ED summons
The political atmosphere in Jharkhand is heating up over the ED summons. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has sent a reply letter to the ED’s seventh summons. In his letter, Hemant Soren has termed the ED’s summons as illegal. Soren has accused the ED of conducting a media trial in his letter. The ED had asked Hemant Soren to provide information regarding the alleged land scam case. Instead of answering the questions about place, time, and date, the ED had sent a summons to Hemant Soren.
ED asks Hemant Soren to provide information
In its letter, the ED had asked Hemant Soren to inform the investigating officer about the date, place, etc. according to his convenience so that his statement can be recorded in the money laundering case. The Enforcement Directorate had demanded a response from the Chief Minister by 31st December. The ED had also warned that if Soren fails to appear for statement again, the agency will be compelled to initiate legal action under the provisions of anti-money laundering laws.
ED summons termed as illegal by Hemant Soren
Hemant Soren has strongly criticized the ED’s summons and called it illegal in his reply letter. He accused the ED of indulging in a media trial rather than conducting a fair investigation. Soren questioned the ED’s motive behind summoning him and raised doubts about the agency’s intentions. He also stated that he is not obliged to provide any response to the ED’s summons as it is a violation of his rights.
Legal action threatened by the Enforcement Directorate
The Enforcement Directorate has warned Hemant Soren that if he fails to appear for statement again, they will take necessary legal action under the anti-money laundering laws. The agency has emphasized that if Soren refuses to cooperate, they will proceed with legal proceedings against him. The ED has demanded a response from the Chief Minister within a specified deadline, failing which they will take further action against him.
झारखंड के मुख्यमंत्री हेमंत सोरेन ने ईडी के समन का जवाब देते हुए इसे गैरकानूनी बताया है। ईडी ने सोरेन से पूछताछ की जगह, वक्त, तारीख बताने को कहा है लेकिन सोरेन ने इसके जवाब में यह कहा है कि यह मामला मीडिया ट्रायल करने की कोशिश है। ईडी ने सोरेन को 31 दिसंबर तक जवाब मांगा है और इसके न मिलने पर विवश होकर वे कानूनी कार्रवाई शुरू करेगी।
