Jharkhand is currently facing dense fog, causing no sunlight in several districts including Ranchi. According to meteorologists, jet streams are passing through 13 states including Jharkhand, resulting in colder temperatures. On Sunday, moderate dense fog will continue to affect various parts of the state, leading the Indian Meteorological Department to issue a yellow alert for fog. The morning will see fog followed by partial cloud cover later in the day. There is a possibility of light rainfall in Ranchi and the central region on January 10th, with a gradual decrease in minimum temperatures over the next two to three days.
The impact of jet streams on 13 states, including Jharkhand, has resulted in much colder weather in regions like Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Meghalaya, West Bengal, and Assam. The jet stream has formed 6 to 14 kilometers above the snowy mountains, creating extremely cold winds and increasing chances of rain and thunderstorms.
Due to the jet stream, there is a severe drop in temperatures along the western to eastern routes, causing freezing weather conditions. The jet stream is moving at a speed of 180 kilometers per hour.
In Ranchi, four flights had to be cancelled on Saturday due to dense fog, and visibility issues caused delays of up to two hours for incoming flights. Several long-distance trains are also experiencing delays. These disruptions have caused inconvenience for many people.
