Lalu and Nitish
The issue of seat sharing within the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) is still ongoing before the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party, Janata Dal United (JDU), is still demanding its share of the 17 seats. The Left party has also expressed objections to JDU’s demand for these seats, stating that JDU has no right to any of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar. Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has stated that the allocation of seats will be decided by the leaders of the alliance and that the media does not determine seat distribution.
JDU has no right to any of the 17 Lok Sabha seats
The demand for the 17 Lok Sabha seats by JDU has been strongly opposed by the Left party. Ram Bali Singh Yadav, a legislator from the Left party, stated that JDU has no right to any of the 17 Lok Sabha seats. He further mentioned that the Left party is strong in areas such as Karakat, Arrah, Patliputra, and Jehanabad and demanded that they be given these seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. It should be noted that JDU currently holds the Karakat and Jehanabad seats. Bhisma Sahni, a prominent leader of the Left party, stated that they will not give up their seats under any circumstances and that the demand for these 17 seats is justified as JDU won the Lok Sabha elections in 2019 on these seats.
JDU will not give up their seats under any circumstances
Bhisma Sahni also mentioned that JDU will not give up their seats under any circumstances. He stated that the Left party is demanding these 17 seats, which were won by JDU in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He further added that the formula for seat allocation will be announced on January 20th. Prior to this, Ashok Choudhary, a JDU legislator and minister in the Bihar government, stated on social media that the claims of JDU for these 17 seats are also supported by the India Alliance. In the previous Lok Sabha elections, JDU won 16 seats and contested on a total of 17 seats.
