Children trapped inside school campus due to land dispute
In Begusarai, Bihar, around 254 children studying in a private school are trapped inside the campus near the main gate due to an ongoing land dispute between two brothers. The children have been stuck inside for almost 48 hours now, unable to go out or meet their relatives. The incident took place in Sahabpur Kamal Thana and the administration has taken action upon learning about the children being stuck inside the school.
Dispute between two brothers over school land
The dispute is between Chandradev Singh, a resident of Samastipur, and his two sons Pankaj Singh and Gopi Singh. Gopi Singh used to run a school in the village along with his other businesses. The brothers used to run the school together initially, but a disagreement over land ownership has escalated the situation between them. Chandradev Singh registered the school land in the name of his younger son Pankaj Singh, which led to further conflict between the brothers.
Land purchase leading to school gate closure
In 2023, Gopi Singh purchased a piece of land near the school gate, leading to the closure of the private road used by the school. This resulted in a tense situation, with the children being trapped inside the school premises. The police intervened and held a panchayat to resolve the matter peacefully, but the tension between the two brothers continued.
Police called in as children remain trapped
Recently, Gopi Singh dug a pit on his land using a JCB machine and placed bricks in front of the school gate, closing off the main entrance. This action led to the children being confined inside the school hostel. The police were informed about the situation, and while they directed the brothers to resolve the dispute, the children remained trapped inside the school due to the ongoing conflict.
