Lock on Main Gate of Pawapuri Medical College
A lock has been put on the main gate of Pawapuri Medical College in Nalanda as the emergency ward services have been suspended. This decision was taken after a scuffle broke out between doctors and patients’ relatives on Saturday. Consequently, the angry doctors locked the main gate of the college on Sunday, leading to empty beds in the OPD and emergency ward.
Influx of Patients from Three Districts
A large number of patients from Nalanda, Nawada, and Sheikhpura districts come to Pawapuri for treatment. On average, around 100 patients visit the emergency ward daily. With the OPD closed on Sundays, this number increases. A video of a doctor being physically assaulted in the emergency ward has gone viral on social media, highlighting the deteriorating situation.
Incident of Doctor Assault
The incident occurred when Sunil Singh, a resident of Puri village in the Pawapuri OPD area, was admitted to Pawapuri Medical College for treatment. Unfortunately, he was declared dead by the doctors, leading to a confrontation between the doctors and the patient’s relatives. The situation escalated as the relatives demanded a death certificate and other documents, accusing the doctors of negligence.
Investigation and Resolution
An application has been received from the college’s administrator, accusing three identified and some unidentified individuals of assaulting a doctor. CCTV footage is being used to identify the culprits, and discussions are ongoing with the doctors to find a resolution. The Superintendent of the college mentioned that a solution will be reached after the discussions with the doctors.
