Preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections intensified by all parties

All political parties have ramped up their preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The fourth meeting of the opposition parties’ India Alliance was held in Delhi, and now discussions on seat sharing among the opposition parties have begun. Meanwhile, there has been a change in the political scenario in Bihar, as the JDU is contesting the elections separately from the BJP. On the other hand, the BJP is searching for strong candidates for the state’s 17 Lok Sabha seats. These 17 seats were won by JDU candidates in the previous elections.

Changes in Bihar’s political equation

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, there was a tie between the JDU and BJP, with each party winning 17 seats out of the 40 in Bihar. The remaining six seats were given to the LJP. However, this time the JDU is the major component of the India Alliance, as they have separated from the NDA. As a result, the JDU is preparing to field BJP candidates in all the seats allocated to them. The JDU and Congress have faced each other in seats like Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Munger, Sasaram, and Patna Sahib. Both parties are part of the same alliance this time.

BJP’s search for strong candidates

The BJP is in search of strong candidates for the 17 seats they won in the previous elections. These seats include Jhanjharpur, Valmikinagar, Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Nalanda, and Gaya. The party is determined to win these seats again. Similarly, the LJP contested in seats like Jamui, Nawada, Khagaria, Hajipur, and Vaishali in the previous elections and could potentially win these seats again. Besides them, Upendra Kushwaha’s party, RLSP, is also part of the NDA and may contest in seats like Karakat and others. The recent rally by Home Minister Amit Shah was held in Jhanjharpur, indicating the party’s focus on winning that seat.

Bihar as a key battleground for BJP

The BJP has set its sights on winning all 40 seats in Bihar in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. They are determined to achieve this goal and have been actively preparing for the elections. This time, they have formed an alliance with Nitish Kumar’s opposition, Khemka. Seat sharing discussions are set to begin within the India Alliance. The BJP has also been successful in forming governments in three Hindi-speaking states recently, boosting their confidence for the upcoming elections.
