Boat capsizes in Darbhanga, Bihar, killing five people

According to reports, a private boat carrying 11 people from Gadhaiyapur in Kusheshwarsthan East Block was traveling from Chaur to Jhanjhra Haat of Kusheshwarsthan. The Chaur area is covered with water from the Kamla and Jivach rivers. During the journey, a strong gale hit the boat, causing it to capsize. Local divers arrived at the scene and managed to rescue five people, but unfortunately, they had already lost their lives.
Victims identified
The deceased individuals have been identified as residents of Gadhaiyapur in Mahisoth Panchayat. The victims include Jagtaran Devi (60 years), wife of Mahavir Yadav, Meena Devi (60 years), wife of Ramprasad Mukhiya, Sonali Kumari (15 years), daughter of Rajkishore Yadav, Kalpana Kumari (12 years), daughter of Ramshankar Yadav, and Sonia Kumari, daughter of Baleshwar Ram (12 years).
Authorities take action
About five feet of water had accumulated in the Chaur area, trapping the victims after the boat capsized. Local divers were able to recover the bodies, and they have been sent for postmortem. District Magistrate Rajeev Roshan has assured that assistance will be provided to the affected families after the post-mortem examination, through the disaster relief efforts.
