पुलिस अधिकारियों को मृतकों के रिश्तेदारों से स्टेटमेंट लेते हुए और घटना के बारे में एक स्पष्ट निष्कर्ष तक पहुंचने की कोशिश की जा रही है। मृतक जयसिंह के भाई सूरज कुमार ने भूमि विवाद के चलते विरोधी समूह द्वारा गोलीबारी का मुद्दा दोहराया है। मृतक शैलेश कुमार के भाई दीपक कुमार ने बताया कि गांव के ही निवासी सुधीर कुमार की पत्नी का प्रदीप कुमार के साथ अवैध संबंध था। उन्होंने बताया कि प्रतिशोध में, सुधीर कुमार ने अपने सहयोगियों के साथ गोली मारकर प्रदीप कुमार की हत्या की। इसके परिणामस्वरूप विवाद में हस्तक्षेप करने आए शैलेश कुमार और जयसिंह भी गोली मारी गई, जिसके कारण उनकी मौत हो गई।
गोलीबारी में एक युवक नामकरण मिंटूस कुमार गंभीर रूप से घायल हुआ। स्थान पर मौजूद थे पटना के एसएसपी राजीव मिश्रा ने वादा किया कि मृतकों के रिश्तेदारों के बयान पर कानूनी कार्रवाई की जाएगी और कहा कि अब तक मामले में कुल 12 लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया गया है। एसएसपी ने दावा किया है कि अपराधियों से एक राइफल और एक पिस्तल भी बरामद की गई है। एसएसपी ने प्राथमिक रूप से कहा है कि गोलीबारी का मूल कारण दो पक्षों के बीच पैसे के लेन-देन के विवाद था। एसएसपी ने कहा कि दो पक्षों के लोगों ने दूध के बकाया राशि की मांग करने पर टक्कर ली और दोनों पक्षों ने एक दूसरे पर गोलीबारी की।
एसएसपी के अनुसार, गोलीबारी में घायल हुए मिंटूस कुमार एक अपराधी चरित्र का युवक है। यह याद दिलाने योग्य है कि पिछली रात को दो समूहों के बीच सुरगापुर गांव में हुई गोलीबारी में 50 वर्षीय जयसिंह, 40 वर्षीय शैलेश कुमार और 35 वर्षीय प्रदीप कुमार की मौत हो गई, जबकि 22 वर्षीय युवक मिंटूस कुमार गोलीबारी के हमले में गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गया था।
