Monsoon Update in Bihar
The monsoon is active in Bihar, but people are still hoping for good rainfall. According to the weather department, the state was supposed to receive 538.2 mm of rainfall by the first week of August, but only 371.2 mm has been recorded so far. This season, Bihar has seen a 31% deficit in rainfall.
Rainfall Alert in Bihar
In some parts of Patna, there was light rainfall in the morning. Clouds are looming over many districts, and the rainfall in the hills has caused the water levels of several rivers in the state to rise. The weather center has issued a rainfall warning in 19 districts of the state, with heavy rainfall alerts in 8 districts and light rainfall alerts in 11 districts.
Flooding Risk in Nalanda, Bihar
In neighboring state Jharkhand, continuous rainfall has caused the Lokain river in Nalanda to overflow. This has raised concerns of flooding in some areas. Due to the swift flow of water, embankments near Dhuri Bigha village have broken, leading to water entering fields. Several villages are now surrounded by water.
Weather Forecast for Patna
Today in Patna, the morning temperature is expected to be between 28 to 30 degrees. The wind speed will be slow in the evening, but there is a 80% chance of rainfall. The overflowing Lokain river has caused embankments to break, affecting more than 12 villages and fields in Bihar. While farmers are happy with the rainfall, there is also a risk of flooding in some areas.
