Waiting for Monsoon in Delhi

Everyone is eagerly waiting for the rain showers in the sticky heat of New Delhi. The monsoon predictions have been continuous, but IMD forecasts are failing. While the monsoon has progressed from Kerala to Maharashtra, there is a place where the monsoon seems to have stalled. It is now clear why IMD’s claims about the monsoon are failing, as it has reached Gujarat but is not progressing further.

Monsoon Delay in Gujarat

The IMD official stated that despite reaching Gujarat on June 11th, the southwest monsoon has not progressed in other parts of the state due to unfavorable conditions. The IMD’s Ahmedabad weather center scientist, Ramashray Yadav, explained that the monsoon gave a knock on June 11th in Navsari, South Gujarat, but has not advanced due to adverse conditions.

Monsoon Update for Northern India

According to IMD, the monsoon may cover Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and parts of West Bengal’s Gulf of Bengal by next week. The low-level warm winds from the northwest are affecting the monsoon over the Bay of Bengal, resulting in continued hot weather in Central and North India. The monsoon rainfall in the country is currently 4% below normal, with a significant rainfall deficiency of 53% in Northwest India.
