The weather department forecasts a slight change in wind direction leading to cloud cover in the eastern parts of Jharkhand. Some areas have experienced light rainfall, but severe heatwave continues in places like Palamu and Garhwa.
Alert for Severe Heat Wave in Certain Areas
The maximum temperature in Ranchi has been recorded at 39 degrees. An orange alert for severe heat wave is expected to continue in Palamu, Garhwa, and surrounding districts for the next two days. Yellow alert will be in place for other districts. Cloud cover has led to a slight decrease in temperature in Ranchi.
Forecast of Rain in Some Areas
Over the next 24 hours, there is a possibility of light showers accompanied by thunderstorms in Ranchi and surrounding districts. Normal cloud cover is expected on 18 June with occasional light rain in some areas.
No Major Changes in Monsoon Process
There have been no significant changes in monsoon activity over the past 24 hours. Entry into Bihar and West Bengal is expected in the next five days, following which monsoon will arrive in Jharkhand via Pakur and East Singhbhum. Heat wave conditions have resulted in casualties in Palamu with temperatures soaring above 44 degrees.
