Bihar to Witness Monsoon Between June 13 to 18
The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that the monsoon will arrive in Bihar between June 13 to 18, entering through Purnia and Kishanganj. Meanwhile, a heatwave alert has been issued for over 20 districts in Bihar with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in 17 districts. The intense heatwave is expected to continue for the next 5 days with a possible increase of 2 degrees in maximum temperatures.
Monsoon Expected in Kerala by May 31
In Kerala, the monsoon is expected to arrive a day earlier than usual, with the possibility of the first rains on May 31. The normal onset date for monsoon in Kerala is June 1, but the Meteorological Department has revised the forecast. In Bihar, the monsoon may arrive between May 28 to June 3, similar to last year when it reached Purnia on June 13, marking the first timely arrival in 17 years. Amidst this, a yellow alert has been issued for Bihar due to the heatwave, with alerts for 18 districts in the next 48 hours.
Heatwave Alert in Bihar with Temperatures Soaring
With districts like Sheikhpura reaching 43.3 degrees Celsius and Patna recording 40.3 degrees Celsius, a heatwave alert has been issued in 18 districts including West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Buxar, Rohtas, and others. People are advised to take precautions during the heatwave, as temperatures continue to rise due to hot winds. The scorching heatwave has gripped Bihar, with the need for caution and relief measures as monsoon approaches.
