Today, the country is celebrating the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This day is also marked as Good Governance Day in his memory. Bihar’s Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, paid his respects to Vajpayee ji early in the morning through a social media post.

In his tribute, CM Nitish shared a heartfelt message, recognizing Atal Bihari Vajpayee as a respected leader and a Bharat Ratna awardee. Vajpayee was not just a great politician but also a wonderful speaker and poet, born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He was one of the founding members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and served as Prime Minister three times.

Vajpayee’s political journey began with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). His first term as Prime Minister was for just 13 days in 1996. He later led the nation from 1998 to 1999 and again from 1999 to 2004. During his leadership, he made significant decisions, including the Pokhran nuclear tests and the National Highway Development Project.

Known for his moderate and inclusive leadership style, Vajpayee was respected by all, including his opponents. He was also a talented poet, and his works reflected themes of nationalism and democratic values. He received the Bharat Ratna in 2015 and passed away on August 16, 2018, but his legacy in Indian politics and literature endures.

Interestingly, Nitish Kumar served as the Railway Minister in Vajpayee’s cabinet and shared a special bond with him. Nitish has often mentioned the trust and affection Atal ji showed him. Many believe Vajpayee played a crucial role in Nitish’s political career, helping him become the Chief Minister of Bihar even with fewer seats.
