Safety Measures in Public Places
The government in Patna is focusing on the safety of the people and has formulated a new lift policy. The blueprint for this policy has been prepared by the Energy Department. It is now mandatory to obtain permission from the government to install any lift or escalator in public places, multi-story buildings, hotels, apartments, shopping malls, hospitals, and even private homes.
Compulsory Installation of Lifts
Bihar is progressing as a developed state with the construction of multi-story buildings and large shopping malls in various regions. The recent fire incident at Pal Hotel near Patna Junction, where 8 people lost their lives due to the absence of a lift, highlights the importance of proper safety measures. With the new policy, installation of lifts with stairs in public buildings will be mandatory to ensure the safety of people.
Importance of Safety Standards
Currently, Bihar does not have a lift policy, leading to some companies installing lifts without adequate knowledge, compromising safety. After the policy is implemented, companies installing lifts will need to obtain a license, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Lifts and escalators will be installed according to engineering standards and quality checks to enhance safety measures in public places.
