Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inspected the under-construction Railway Overbridge (ROB) near Bakhtiyarpur Engineering College in Patna district on Saturday. During his visit, the Chief Minister strictly directed the officials to complete the construction work within the current month of March. This project is vital as it connects National Highway-30 with State Highway-106, promising smoother travel for thousands of daily commuters.
How Will This Project Help the Common Man?
The construction of this 2-lane ROB is currently in its final stages and holds great importance for local traffic. Once operational, it will bridge the gap between the old Patna-Bakhtiyarpur road and the new 4-lane highway, significantly cutting down travel time.
This bridge will provide direct connectivity for students and teachers of Bakhtiyarpur Engineering College and Patliputra University, who currently face difficulties crossing the railway line. Furthermore, officials briefed that this route will help reduce the heavy traffic load on Mahatma Gandhi Setu and Rajendra Setu by offering an alternative option for vehicles coming from Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, and Begusarai.
Key Updates on Cost and Other Projects
During the inspection, the Chief Minister also reviewed other major infrastructure projects in the area. The Road Construction Department and Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam provided updates on the costs and timelines.
- ROB Cost: The estimated value for the ROB and approach roads is approximately ₹53.14 Crore.
- Completion Target: The ROB is set to be completed by March 2026.
- Ganga Bridge Update: The CM inspected the 51.26 km long Bakhtiyarpur-Tajpur 4-lane bridge, which is targeted for completion by the end of 2026.
- School Infrastructure: A new 5-storey building with 45 classrooms for Ganesh Higher Secondary School was also part of the inspection.
