Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited the construction site of the Kacchi Dargah-Bidupur bridge on February 11, 2026, to check the progress of the remaining work. He gave strict instructions to the officials to complete all pending tasks by March or April 2026. This six-lane bridge is very important for the people of Bihar as it will connect the northern and southern parts of the state directly. The government is now working in ‘Mission Mode’ to make sure the bridge opens for the public on time.

How Much Money Was Spent on This Project?
The total cost of this mega project is around ₹4,988 crore to ₹5,000 crore. The construction work is being done by L&T Construction from India and Daewoo E&C from South Korea. The funding for this bridge is shared between the state government and an international bank.
- Asian Development Bank (ADB): ₹3,000 crore loan
- Bihar Government: ₹2,000 crore contribution
- Construction Budget: ₹4,291 crore
- Land Acquisition: ₹696 crore
What Are the Benefits for Common People?
Once this bridge is ready, it will solve the heavy traffic problems often seen on the Mahatma Gandhi Setu. The bridge spans 9.76 km across the river, making it the longest extra-dosed cable-stayed bridge in the country. It will provide a new route for people traveling to Samastipur, Darbhanga, and Madhubani.
Officials have also received orders to finish the 10 km approach roads quickly so vehicles can move without stopping. This bridge will connect directly with the Amas-Darbhanga Expressway, making long-distance travel much smoother and faster for everyone.
