Delay in Express Trains at Taljhari Station
People in Sahibganj, including the Taljhari block area, have been waiting for the dream of having express trains halt at Taljhari station, even in the year 2023. The question of when express trains will halt at Taljhari station has become a topic of discussion among the people. On January 17, 2023, under the leadership of BJP President Manoj Thakur, the Taljhari BJP party submitted a memorandum to the Central State Rail Minister, demanding the halt of Down Up Malda Kiul Intercity and Vananchal Express trains here. In addition, on October 11, 2023, the Taljhari unit of the All India Students Association submitted a memorandum to the Station Manager of Taljhari, Maldah Divisional Railway Manager, demanding the stoppage of Malda Intercity Express.
Protests for Train Halt at Taljhari Station
The Taljhari Development Struggle Committee, along with the Student Union and villagers, staged protests, demonstrations, and even sat on hunger strikes to demand the halt of Malda Intercity, Bhagalpur Vananchal Express, and Howrah Jamalpur Express at Taljhari Railway Station. However, every time, the railway authorities ended the protest after a month. The dream of train halts has remained just a dream for the people. Not only that, but students from Taljhari and surrounding areas have to travel to Ranchi or Haldia for their educational and business-related needs. They have to rely on the Three Hill or Sahibganj local trains.
History of Protests and Demonstrations
Protests and demonstrations have taken place multiple times in Taljhari and its surrounding areas. From August 17 to 23, 2007, a five-day protest was held. On August 24, 2007, a traffic jam was organized, which was ended after the assurance of the railway authorities. From June 25 to 27, 2010, a three-day protest was held, followed by a two-day hunger strike on June 28-29, 2010. On June 30, 2010, an indefinite hunger strike was observed. The railway officials and Rajmahal SDO ended the hunger strike after a month. Numerous protests have taken place apart from these incidents.
Health Services Disrupted at Taljhari Community Health Center
For the past ten months, 108 ambulance services have been suspended at the Taljhari Community Health Center, causing inconvenience to patients.
साहिबगंज और उसके आसपास के लोगों को वर्ष 2023 में भी तालझारी स्टेशन पर एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों का ठहराव नहीं मिला। लोगों के मन में यह सवाल उठ गया कि कब होगा तालझारी स्टेशन पर ट्रेनों का ठहराव। इसके बावजूद, भाजपा अध्यक्ष मनोज ठाकुर ने तालझारी भाजपा पार्टी की ओर से रेल मंत्री को मेमोरेंडम देकर एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों का ठहराव मांगा था। इसके अलावा, अखिल भारतीय विद्यार्थी परिषद ने भी तालझारी इकाई की ओर से रेलवे प्रबंधक को मालदा इंटरसिटी एक्सप्रेस की मांग की थी। इसके बावजूद, रेलवे के पदाधिकारी ने हर बार आंदोलन को खत्म करवा दिया है। इससे लोगों को ट्रेनों का ठहराव मिलना एक सपना बनकर रह गया है। इसके अलावा, शिक्षा से जुड़े कार्य के लिए भी छात्रों को रांची और हावड़ा जाने के लिए बहुत परेशानी होती है। इसके कारण, लोग तालझारी स्टेशन से ट्रेन पकड़ते हैं। अब तक कई बार धरना-प्रदर्शन हुआ है, लेकिन इससे कुछ नहीं हुआ है। साथ ही, सामुदायिक स्वास्थ्य केंद्र तालझारी में 108 एंबुलेंस सेवा भी बंद है, जिसके कारण मरीजों को परेशानी हो रही है।
