A collision between two trains at a hydroelectric project site injured over 100 workers, with some in serious condition.


Last night around 9 PM, there was a serious accident at the THDC hydropower project in Pipalkoti, Chamoli district. Two trains collided, resulting in injuries to more than 100 workers.

Most of the injured workers are from Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand. They were returning from their shifts when the collision happened, causing panic at the site.

Seventy injured people were admitted to the district hospital in Gopeshwar, while 17 were taken to Vivekanand Hospital in Pipalkoti. After initial treatment, 66 of them were discharged.

The Chief Minister was quick to respond, instructing authorities to ensure all injured workers receive the best medical care. Some workers suffered serious injuries, including fractures.

The collision happened when one trolley transporting goods lost its brakes and hit another trolley. Both trolleys overturned, leading to the chaos that followed.
