Installation of Oxygen Plants in Various Hospitals

Oxygen plants have been installed in Sadar Hospital as well as sub-district hospitals in the districts of Pusa, Rosra, Dalsinghsarai, and Patori under the PM Care Fund. The oxygen plant in Sadar Hospital has a capacity to fill 32 cylinders with approximately 12,000 liters of oxygen, costing around 80 lakhs. However, despite the installation, patients are still not receiving oxygen from the plant due to technical issues.

Shortage of Staff and Equipment

There is a shortage of staff to operate the plant effectively. While 13 staff members are required to operate the oxygen plant in the hospitals, there are only two available in the district. Additionally, the generator set up three months ago to run the plant is also not functioning properly, leading to patients still relying on oxygen cylinders for supply.

Operation Monitoring and Future Plans

The operation of the oxygen plant is monitored by the headquarters, and any issues with the machinery are reported to them for guidance. Despite the current challenges, plans are underway to resolve the technical issues and start the oxygen plant soon. The purchase of a 250 KVA generator has been made for this purpose, and engineers are working on resolving the operational problems.

Expansion of Oxygen Plants in Response to Covid-19

Following the second wave of the pandemic, oxygen plants have been set up in various hospitals in addition to Sadar Hospital, including Pusa, Dalsinghsarai, Patori, and Rosra. While these plants are connected to electricity, the lack of proper functioning generators has hindered their operation, resulting in patients still being supplied oxygen through cylinders.
