From Kitchen Supervisor to Bollywood Star
In Bihar, it is often said that one reaps what they sow. This means that the more struggles one faces in their life, the more results they will achieve. Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi’s story is similar to this. In the beginning of his career, he worked as a kitchen supervisor in the Maurya Hotel in Patna for 3-4 years. During that time, he shared a story on TV about his encounter with Manoj Vajpayee’s slipper.
Why did Pankaj Keep Manoj Vajpayee’s Slipper?
When Pankaj Tripathi was working as a kitchen supervisor at the Maurya Hotel, he happened to cross paths with Manoj Vajpayee, who was staying at the same hotel. By mistake, Vajpayee’s rubber slipper was left in the room during checkout. When Pankaj found out about this, he considered the slipper as his guru’s footwear and kept it with him. Pankaj Tripathi considers Vajpayee as his mentor.
Struggle and Dedication
According to B.D. Singh, the Executive Director of the hotel, Pankaj was going through a period of struggle during those days. He would fulfill his responsibilities as a kitchen supervisor at night and often perform in theaters during the day. Singh mentioned that Pankaj enjoyed working the night shift. During his learning phase, he would receive a salary ranging from 8,000 to 12,000 rupees per month. The kitchen staff, especially Jagesh, Chandan, and others, mentioned that whenever Pankaj Tripathi visited Patna, he would make it a point to meet them. Another staff member revealed that everyone had attended Pankaj Tripathi’s father’s funeral. Even though he has become a superstar today, his behavior towards his old friends remains the same.
