Pappu Yadav raises concerns about Makhana business

Pappu Yadav, the MP from Purnia, expressed his concerns about the Makhana business during the Lok Sabha session. He highlighted that Makhana is a major product supplied globally from Kosi and Darbhanga, but the Minimum Support Price (MSP) has not been implemented for Makhana yet. He accused corrupt officials, criminals, and syndicates of controlling the prices of Makhana.

Addressing the issue of electricity theft

During a press conference, Pappu Yadav addressed the issue of electricity theft in Bihar. He mentioned a case where electricity from Bihar was sold to a businessman in Bengal, causing a shortage of electricity in the region. He highlighted the need for proper electricity supply in Purnia and the entire district.

Demand for MSP on Makhana

Pappu Yadav demanded the implementation of MSP for Makhana to ensure fair prices for the farmers. He criticized the syndicates operating in the Makhana business, exploiting farmers by buying Makhana at lower prices and selling them at higher rates later. He vowed to raise these issues in the Parliament.

Push for an IIT hub in Gaya and Purnia

Pappu Yadav also advocated for the establishment of an IIT hub in Gaya and Purnia to promote industries based on Makhana and Maize in Bihar. He had discussions with former Chief Minister of Bihar, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Chirag Paswan to set up industries in the region. He emphasized the importance of ensuring fair prices for Makhana and Maize farmers in the area.
