Indian Medical Association has boycotted work in all healthcare institutions. The Bihar branch of the Indian Medical Association said that Dr. Rajesh Paswan was attacked by a mob in the presence of the police. Similar incidents have been occurring frequently. In protest against this, all government healthcare institutions will suspend emergency services on Tuesday. As a result of the closure of the OPDs in all government hospitals, around 1500 to 2000 patients had to face difficulties. Many districts, including Purnia and Katihar, are also facing problems due to the closure of private hospitals.

The incident has demanded action against the culprits. Dr. Sudhir Kumar, Secretary of AIIMS Muzaffarpur, informed that after the death of a patient in Dr. Rajesh Paswan’s clinic in Purnia, the family members attacked the doctor. The doctor is currently being treated in Patna. AIIMS has demanded action against the culprits involved in the incidents happening at medical institutions and against the doctors. Patients visiting the OPDs are facing difficulties due to the strike.

Meanwhile, Dr. Abha Rani Sinha, Deputy Director of SKMCH, stated that there is no information about any strike in SKMCH. Alternative arrangements will be made considering the strike. The Civil Surgeon also stated that there is no information received from the organization. The Indian Medical Association has demanded immediate legal action against all culprits under the Bihar Medical Institution and Person Protection Act 2018. They have also called for the immediate implementation of provisions of the Bihar Medical Institution and Person Protection Act 2011 and the Epidemic Disease Act 2020 to effectively prevent violence against medical institutions and doctors.
