This article talks about new traffic rules in Patna, aimed at reducing parking issues and road encroachment.
The Patna administration is taking strong steps to clear the city of traffic jams. After a meeting on Thursday, the Traffic SP, Vaibhav Sharma, announced new rules on Friday to tackle the problem of vehicles parked on government roads overnight.
According to the new order, those who treat public roads like their personal parking space will face serious penalties. The authorities are determined to take a hard stance against road encroachment and have instructed police officers to make a list of such offenders.
People with damaged or abandoned vehicles parked on the roads have only 24 hours to remove them. If they don’t comply, the administration will take action against the owners of these vehicles, including showrooms and garages, under the Motor Vehicle Act.
The law states that leaving a vehicle in a public place for more than 10 hours is illegal. If caught, the police will tow the vehicle, and the owner will have to pay for the towing and face fines. The first-time offenders will be fined Rs 500, while repeat offenders will have to pay Rs 1000.
Following these new rules, police officials have begun inspecting traffic in various areas of Patna to ensure smooth movement. All police stations have been instructed to prevent road encroachments and maintain order.
