This article shares the unfortunate incident of a woman who collapsed at Patna airport and later died due to delays in medical assistance.

In Patna, a 61-year-old woman named Nirmala Devi from Begusarai was preparing to fly to Mumbai on a SpiceJet flight. She arrived at the airport around 3 PM and suddenly felt unwell at around 4:30 PM, collapsing in the departure area.

Shockingly, there was no doctor or medical staff present at the airport at that time. As her condition worsened, the airport called for any doctor among the passengers to help. After some time, a doctor did come forward and performed CPR, but her situation was already critical.

The airport director mentioned that Nirmala lost consciousness at 4:40 PM, but the ambulance only arrived 10 minutes later. She was rushed to a private hospital nearby, where she was declared dead at 5:13 PM. Passengers believe that timely first aid could have saved her life.

The director admitted that there was no medical team available due to the end of a previous agreement with a medical provider. A new agreement was made with Medanta Hospital, but they had not yet deployed any doctors, leading to this serious gap in medical assistance.

This tragic incident has created a wave of anger among passengers and the victim’s family, who are questioning the airport’s preparedness for emergencies. The family is heartbroken, having chosen air travel for its perceived safety, only to face such negligence.

Summary:

  • A woman collapsed at Patna airport while waiting for her flight.

  • No medical staff were present, leading to a delay in getting help.

  • She was declared dead shortly after reaching the hospital.

  • The airport director acknowledged the lack of medical personnel.

  • The incident has caused distress among passengers and her family.
