A major security scare occurred at the Patna Civil Court on Monday morning after authorities received a bomb threat. This incident happened just before the scheduled hearing of Purnia MP Pappu Yadav. The threat was communicated via an email which claimed that powerful explosives were planted inside the court premises. Police immediately swung into action and evacuated the area to ensure the safety of judges, lawyers, and the public.

What was written in the threat email?
The email received by the Patna Civil Court and the District Bar Association contained a serious warning. It claimed that four RDX-based Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) had been planted in the chambers of judges and the toilets within the court complex. The sender threatened to detonate these explosives using a remote control. Following this, the Bomb Disposal Squad and dog squads were deployed to conduct a thorough search of every corner of the premises.
Why is Pappu Yadav in custody?
The hearing on the bail plea of Pappu Yadav was postponed due to this security alert. He was arrested on February 6, 2026, from his residence in Patna. The arrest is connected to a 31-year-old case filed in 1995 involving charges of forgery and threatening. Police acted on a non-bailable warrant issued by the court. Currently, the MP is in judicial custody at Beur Jail after a brief medical checkup at PMCH.
