The Patna government plans to improve the city with new vending zones, better waste management, and updated infrastructure.

Patna is getting a makeover! The Urban Development and Housing Minister, Nitin Naveen, recently held a meeting with officials to discuss how to make the city smarter and more organized. This meeting took place on Thursday and focused on several important changes to improve life in the capital.

One major decision is to create designated ‘vending zones’ for footpath vendors. The minister wants to identify 25 locations in Patna where these vendors can set up shop. This move aims to help vendors have a permanent place to work while also reducing traffic congestion caused by people encroaching on the roads.

The government is also taking steps to address issues that are often hidden underground, like drainage and water supply. They plan to use technology called ‘GIS mapping’ to create digital maps of the city’s drainage and sewer systems. This will help in quickly locating and fixing any problems in the future.

In addition, the government is focusing on better waste management. During a visit to the Solid Waste Management Plant, the minister emphasized the need for international standards in waste collection and processing. There will be more emphasis on door-to-door waste collection and buying new vehicles for transporting garbage to the plant.

At the end of the meeting, there was some good news. Patna has improved its ranking in the national cleanliness survey, and the minister congratulated the Municipal Corporation and sanitation workers for their hard work. The goal now is to keep making Patna cleaner and more beautiful.

Summary:

  • Patna is undergoing a transformation for better organization.

  • 25 ‘vending zones’ will be created for street vendors.

  • Technology will help map drainage and water systems.

  • Waste management will follow international standards.

  • Patna has improved its cleanliness ranking nationally.
