The Bihar government has officially approved a plan to build 50 modern “Green Bus Stops” in Patna. These new stops will be constructed across 14 major routes in the city to improve the public transport experience. The project aims to make daily commuting safer and more comfortable while using eco-friendly technology. The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) will lead the implementation of these state-of-the-art facilities.

Key Features and Passenger Facilities

The new bus stops are designed to provide much more than just a place to wait. Solar panels will be installed on the roofs to generate electricity, making the stops self-sufficient. This green energy will power lights and digital systems. Passengers can expect the following amenities:

  • Real-time Updates: Digital display boards will show the estimated arrival time of buses.
  • Safety: CCTV cameras will provide 24/7 surveillance to ensure passenger security.
  • Ticketing: QR code scanners will allow for easy digital ticket booking.
  • Comfort: Shaded seating areas and drinking water facilities will be available.

Strict Rules for Drivers and Future Plans

To reduce traffic congestion on busy roads like Bailey Road and Frazer Road, the administration has enforced strict stopping rules. Divisional Commissioner Animesh Parashar stated that buses must halt only at these designated green stops. Drivers who pick up or drop passengers at unauthorized locations will face fines or permit cancellations. After the completion of the first phase in Patna, the government plans to expand this network to 500 bus stops across other cities in Bihar.
