Patna High Court’s Order

Patna High Court has indicated towards stopping the salaries of senior officers, including ACS KK Pathak from the Education Department. The court gave this signal while hearing the order to stop the payment of university employees’ salaries. The next hearing is scheduled for June 25th.

Court’s Instructions to Education Department

During the hearing on the matter of not participating in the meeting of Vice-Chancellors and stopping the operation of all university accounts, the court instructed the Education Department to make the payment of the approved budget amount. Failure to do so will result in a stoppage of salaries for all senior officers of the department.

Issues Raised by University Lawyers

On May 16th, lawyers representing universities issued a letter stating that the government had called for a meeting to review the university budgets. Failure to attend this meeting resulted in a halt in the operation of all university accounts until further orders. The court was informed that accounts of Maulana Mazharul Haq Arabic-Persian University, Purnia University, and Munger University have been sealed.

Violation of Rules

The lawyers argued that the Department of Education had no right to dismiss any university employee under the University Act. The State government’s counsel stated that the Education Department would not release any funds until the Vice-Chancellors participate in the meetings. The lawyers emphasized the importance of following rules and regulations in university matters.
