Patna High Court is taking steps to control noise pollution by requiring detailed reports from local officials and ensuring complaints remain anonymous.

Patna High Court recently reviewed noise pollution issues in Patna district. The court asked for action reports from various Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) to check if they are following orders about noise control. Justice Rajiv Roy was in charge of this hearing, which involved complaints from a citizen named Surendra Kumar.

The court pointed out that some police stations, including Kadamkuan and Pirbahore, were not fully following its orders. It also asked four SDOs to submit affidavits stating that no noise pollution cases have been reported in their areas. The court wants to ensure that all complaints regarding noise pollution are addressed properly.

During earlier hearings, the court instructed local authorities to strictly follow guidelines from the Bihar State Pollution Control Board. This includes making certain areas free from noise pollution. The court appreciated the efforts made by Patna City SDO and called for a meeting among all SDOs to discuss the actions taken against noise pollution.

The Patna City SDO has been proactive, seizing loud DJs that violate noise rules and imposing fines. They also provided public contact numbers for complaints. The court directed other SDOs to do the same, ensuring citizens can easily report noise issues.

To protect complainants, the court ordered that their identities remain confidential to prevent harassment. The next hearing on this matter is scheduled for October 17, 2025, as the court continues its efforts to make Patna’s environment healthier and quieter.

Summary:

  • Patna High Court is addressing noise pollution in the district.

  • Local police stations have been summoned for not complying with orders.

  • Patna City SDO is actively taking action against violators.

  • Complaints can be made anonymously to protect citizens.

  • The next hearing is set for October 17, 2025.
