Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently visited the JP Ganga Path, popularly known as the Marine Drive of Patna, to review the ongoing development works. During his inspection in the Digha area, the Chief Minister emphasized the need to transform the river bank into a major scenic hotspot for the city. He directed officials to speed up beautification projects to attract more tourists and locals.

What new facilities are coming to Patna Marine Drive?

The state government has planned several new amenities to make the riverfront more attractive. According to the recent instructions given by CM Nitish Kumar, the administration will focus on proper landscaping and plantation along the Ganga bank. The area will soon see the installation of 20-foot high gates to mark the entrance to these scenic spots.

To cater to the visitors, special food parks will be developed where people can enjoy local delicacies. The plan also includes creating specific selfie points for the youth and families. The Chief Minister has strictly ordered that security arrangements near the river must be strengthened to ensure the safety of all visitors.

Upcoming Parks and Riverfront Projects

Apart from the beautification of the JP Ganga Path, several other large-scale projects are in the pipeline to boost tourism in Patna. Officials are working on a Holistic Garden that will stretch 7 kilometers from Digha to Gandhi Maidan. The Patna Municipal Corporation is also preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for an 8-kilometer riverfront from Digha to Didarganj.

  • Holistic Garden: A 7-km long green belt costing over Rs 387 crore.
  • Janardan Ghat Upgrade: New facilities like water sports, a cafeteria, and a Ro-Ro vessel for Ganga tours are being developed.
  • Walking Tracks: The new riverfront plan includes pedestrian walkways, sitting areas, and solar lighting.
  • Theme Park: A 10-acre waste-to-wonder park is being built at the Deshratna Dr Rajendra Prasad Bihar Gaurav Udyan.
