Patna is set to welcome its metro service soon, marking a significant step towards modern urban transport.

Patna, the capital of Bihar, is gearing up for an exciting change with the upcoming Patna Metro Rail Project. The metro is expected to be inaugurated on either 29 or 30 September, and this moment has been eagerly awaited by the residents. It’s a milestone for the city as people will finally get to ride the metro train.

The inauguration is reportedly planned to be conducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar wants to have such a significant event marked by his presence. There are talks of PM Modi visiting Bihar during the Navratri festival to officially open the metro.

For the citizens, the metro will provide a much-needed alternative to the heavy traffic in Patna. Currently, three elevated stations and a depot are ready, allowing the metro to start operations. The train can carry 1,083 passengers at a time, with seating for 138 and space for 945 standing passengers, designed to accommodate more during busy times.

Passengers can expect modern facilities on the metro. While elevated stations won’t have air conditioning, the underground stations will. Security is a priority, with the Bihar Special Armed Police overseeing safety measures. They have already checked the security arrangements at various metro locations.

Additionally, there will be measures in place for crowd control and safety at ticket counters and platforms. Passengers will undergo security checks upon entering the stations. The metro service aims to greatly improve urban life in Patna by offering fast, safe, and reliable transportation, reducing the pressure on private vehicles and other forms of transport.

  • Patna Metro is set to be inaugurated on 29 or 30 September.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi may launch the metro during Navratri.

  • The metro will significantly ease traffic in Patna.

  • Modern facilities and security measures are in place for passengers.
