What happened during the Assembly March?
The march began in the morning from Gandhi Maidan with thousands of activists participating. The police had set up heavy barricading near JP Golambar to stop the march from reaching the Assembly. However, the angry crowd broke the barriers and moved forward. The protesters reached Dakbangla Chauraha where a clash occurred between the police and the students.
The administration has deployed a large number of police personnel and riot control vehicles at the spot. Warnings were issued to use water cannons if the crowd did not disperse. Meanwhile, the budget session of the Bihar Assembly is ongoing, and Section 144 is in force in restricted areas.
Details of the NEET Student Case
The protest is demanding justice for an 18-year-old student from Jehanabad. She was staying at Shambhu Girls Hostel in Chitragupta Nagar to prepare for NEET. She was found unconscious in her room on January 6, 2026, and passed away during treatment on January 11.
