This article shares updates about the Patna-Sasaram highway project, including delays and future plans.
There’s some news about the Patna-Sasaram four-lane highway project. The construction has hit a snag because the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has canceled the tender of Gulfar Engineering and Construction Company from Oman. This happened because the company didn’t get the required no objection certificate from Oman’s Interior Ministry.
Gulfar Engineering has written to the NHAI, asking for ten days to sort out the clearance issue. They hope to get the necessary approvals soon, so they can start construction work again. This project is important for improving road connectivity in the region.
If they don’t get the clearance within ten days, the NHAI plans to start a new tender process. The aim is to complete the highway by 2028, but right now, this seems tough due to the delays. NHAI officials want to finish the tender process next month to avoid any more hold-ups.
The total budget for the Patna-Sasaram highway project is about Rs 3712.40 crore. The highway will stretch 120 kilometers, making travel from Patna to Sasaram quicker—just two hours instead of four. This will also connect Patna better with nearby districts.
Construction will happen in two phases. The first phase covers 46 km from Patna to Bhojpur, and the second phase will be 74 km from Arrah to Sasaram. This new road will not only help with local traffic but will also offer better routes to places like Banaras.
