The Railway Administration has announced the start of a new daily fast passenger train between Patna and Thawe starting March 15, 2026. This service aims to improve connectivity for passengers traveling between the state capital and the Gopalganj region. Along with this, several Holi special trains running between Chhapra and Anand Vihar will now have additional stops at Gopalganj station.

Patna-Thawe Fast Passenger Schedule and Route Details

The new train will operate daily via the Patliputra-Dighwara route, covering a distance of approximately 175 km. The train is equipped with 24 coaches, including 22 general class coaches and 2 SLR vans, making it a convenient option for daily commuters. Key stops include Patliputra, Digha Bridge Halt, Dighwara, Marhaura, Mashrakh, and Gopalganj. Ticket prices for the unreserved category are expected to be around 105 to 110 rupees.

New Halts for Chhapra-Anand Vihar Special Trains

To manage the festive rush, the Ministry of Railways has approved 2-minute halts for several special trains at Gopalganj station. This decision follows requests from local representatives like MP Dr. Alok Kumar Suman to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. The trains connecting Chhapra to Anand Vihar Terminus will now stop at Gopalganj, providing relief to long-distance travelers. Additionally, the Amrit Bharat Express has been integrated into the route via Thawe and Gorakhpur.

  • Train 05089/05090 will stop at Gopalganj for two minutes
  • Train 05071/05072 will also have a scheduled halt at Gopalganj
  • Operational cleaning staff at Thawe have been alerted for the increased frequency
  • Railway has extended 28 special trains through the end of March 2026
  • MLA Mithilesh Tiwari proposed a halt at Dighwa Dubauli for Tapti Ganga Express
