Patna will soon have a new water metro service, enhancing travel options for residents and tourists.

Patna is set to welcome a new water metro service very soon. This new way of traveling will be available before the Bihar assembly election dates are announced. It will add to the existing road and rail metro services, making travel more convenient and fun for both locals and visitors.

The first electronic ship for this service has already left Kolkata and is expected to reach Patna by September 16. This ship is fully air-conditioned and can accommodate 50 passengers. It is designed for comfort and will run entirely on electricity. By the end of this month, another ship is also expected to arrive.

The water metro service will start from Digha to Kangan Ghat, covering about 20 kilometers. Key stops will be at Gandhi Ghat, Gaighat, and the new floating jetty at Kangan Ghat. There will be charging points at Digha and Gandhi Ghat for the ships, and there are plans to install solar panels for eco-friendly operations in the future.

A total of 25 electronic ships will be operated in the Ganga River under this project, which has an investment of ₹1200 crore. These ships are being built by a company based in Kerala. The service aims to provide a relaxing experience for passengers while enjoying the scenic views along the river.

In the future, if the demand increases, larger ships with 100 seats may be introduced. The service could also expand to other areas around Patna, allowing people to explore beautiful ghats and enjoy the river’s beauty. This initiative will be managed by the Bihar Tourism Development Corporation.
