This article shares important traffic changes in Patna due to the Saras Mela, including new routes and parking information.
Big changes are coming to traffic in Patna this weekend because of the Saras Mela. The traffic police have released a new advisory for Gandhi Maidan and nearby areas. This will be effective on Saturday and Sunday, December 20 and 21, and again on December 27 and 28, 2025.
For three-wheelers like autos and e-rickshaws, there are new routes. If you are coming from Ashok Rajpath towards Gandhi Maidan, you will have to turn near the double-decker bus. No stopping will be allowed at Kargil Chowk. Those heading to the station from Kargil Chowk must take Ramgulam Chowk and go via Exhibition Road or S.P. to reach the station.
Buses coming from Kargil Chowk will now go through Exhibition Road. A one-way system is also in place for vehicles coming from the Ganga Pathway. They can go from Children Park to Kargil Chowk, but not the other way. These changes are meant to help manage the heavy traffic expected during the mela.
Parking has been organized for visitors. You can park your private vehicle at Gate No. 10 or 12, and it is important to park in the designated area in front of Gate No. 10. Remember, parking on the roads around Gandhi Maidan will not be allowed at all.
To keep everything running smoothly, there will be a ban on any carts or footpath shops in and around Gandhi Maidan from 12 noon to 8 pm during the mela days. This is to ensure that the roads are clear for traffic. Make sure to plan your travel around these timings!
