Bihar Government has allocated 1.06 billion rupees for the development of Patna University. The state cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, approved this proposal along with 31 other proposals. A Project Management Unit (PMU) will also be set up to monitor and maintain the solar power plant in the university.
As part of the development plan, a seven-storey science block, two nine-storey girls hostels, and a three-storey staff quarter will be constructed. Additionally, Rs 4,000 crore has been sanctioned for solid-liquid waste management, following the Green Tribunal order. This fund will be used to ensure clean and uninterrupted rivers in the state.
The cabinet has also approved the creation of 193 new posts. This includes reorganizing 744 attendant cadre posts in Polytechnic, Engineering College, and Technical Education Council offices. Furthermore, 158 posts of Statistics Officer in the Economics and Statistics Directorate, one post of Computer Operator in the Cabinet Secretariat, and 34 posts under the Technical Education Department have been approved.
Under the Chief Minister New and Renewable Energy Scheme Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan, a Project Management Unit will be established. It will oversee the implementation and monitoring of installing grid-connected solar power plants and streetlights on government buildings. The cabinet has allotted Rs 29.30 crore for the establishment of the PMU for a three-year period.
Additionally, Rs 44.51 crore has been approved for setting up an Integrated Command and Control Center to enhance the automated communication system in the State Load Despatch Center under the Power State Transmission Company.
Rs 57.41 crore has been allocated for the Chief Minister’s Pond Fisheries Development Scheme, which aims to improve water areas and fish seed production, renovate fish beach hatcheries, and install tube wells and pump sets.
Lastly, a multipurpose building will be constructed on Waqf land in Gulzar Bagh for organizing marriages and other functions of the Muslim community. The cabinet has approved an amount of Rs 39.54 crore for this construction project.
