Patna’s Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport is set to increase its flight operations, aiming for 100 flights daily.
Patna’s Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport is about to get busier. The airport management has asked all airlines to boost their flight numbers from Patna. They plan to have around 100 flights operating daily from the airport soon.
Right now, about 80 flights take off from Patna Airport every day. Most of these flights go to Delhi, with around 26 flights on that route. There are also 10 flights to Bengaluru, and 8 each to Mumbai and Hyderabad. The highest demand is for the Delhi flights, as many passengers connect to international flights from there.
The airport has recently built a new terminal, which cost around 1200 crores. This new terminal has improved facilities and can now handle more aircraft, allowing up to 11 planes to park at once. The management is encouraging airlines to add more flights due to this increased capacity.
Patna Airport is now equipped to function 24 hours a day. Until now, flights usually stopped at 11 PM, but with the new terminal, night operations are possible. Airlines are being asked to consider late-night and early morning flights as well.
Experts believe more flights will help lower ticket prices. With more seats available, the demand-supply balance will improve, leading to reduced fares. The airport management is also urging airlines to connect Patna with more cities, benefiting the entire Bihar region.
