This article discusses the latest developments in the Land for Jobs scam involving Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family.

A special court in Delhi has summoned new accused in the Land for Jobs scam. This scam is linked to the railway jobs that were allegedly exchanged for land. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a second complaint in this case on March 28, 2025, connecting it to money laundering and corruption, involving Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family.

The ED claims that between 2004 and 2009, during Lalu Prasad’s tenure as Railway Minister, land belonging to several families in Bihar was taken for job offers. It has now identified six additional plots in Gopalganj that were allegedly transferred to Lalu’s sons, Tej Pratap and Tejashwi Yadav. Families of candidates who got Group-D jobs reportedly faced pressure to hand over their land to the Yadav family.

This entire scam first came to light through a CBI investigation, which confirmed that it was an organized crime. The CBI filed an FIR and multiple charge sheets, alleging the existence of a “land for jobs” conspiracy. Following this, the ED began looking into the financial aspects of the case to take strict action.

The ED has previously filed complaints in January and August of 2024, naming Lalu’s wife Rabri Devi, daughter Misa Bharti, and others as accused. The latest complaint includes new evidence that strengthens the case against them, making it a significant development in the ongoing investigation.

With the President’s approval received for the case, there are now no legal obstacles. The first cases were approved on May 2, 2025, and the second supplementary complaint got the green light on August 18, 2025. This means that the investigation will continue without delays.

  • The CBI’s initial investigation led to these serious charges.

  • Lalu’s family members have also been named in previous complaints.
