Police Investigation

In Hajipur, Bihar, nine people died due to an electric current. The incident occurred in the Sultanpur area of the industrial station. Villagers say that a DJ came in contact with an 11,000-volt power line, resulting in the deaths of eight people on the spot. One person succumbed later. There is a fear of the death toll rising further after the total of nine deaths.

Victims Identified

According to villagers, the deceased include Ravi Kumar, son of Dharmendra Paswan, Raja Kumar, son of Sw Lal Das, Navin Kumar, son of late Fudena Paswan, Amresh Kumar, son of Sanoj Bhagat, Ashok Kumar, son of Mantu Paswan, Kalu Kumar, son of Parmeshwar Paswan, Ashi Kumar, son of Mintu Paswan, Chandan Kumar, son of Chandeshwar Paswan, and Amod Kumar, son of Devi Lal. Three people, including Rajiv Kumar (17), son of Umesh Paswan, who came in contact with the 11,000-volt wire, are undergoing treatment at the hospital amidst a chaotic atmosphere.

Offering Prayers to Lord Shiva

Villagers narrate that the people of Sultanpur were heading to Sonpur’s Pahleja Ghat to immerse the idol while dancing to the DJ’s music. Suddenly, the DJ came in contact with the 11,000-volt electricity, causing nine people to get severely electrocuted. Eight died on the spot, while one succumbed later. The rest are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Possibility of Increased Death Toll

Local residents informed the local police about the incident. As soon as the information was received, the local police and the DM of Vaishali rushed to the scene. The identification of the bodies is currently underway. Locals fear that the death toll may increase further.
