- In the last ten days, ten women have had their chains snatched and two others have had their purses grabbed by bike-borne snatchers.
- Four incidents have occurred in the SK Puri police station area, with two happening within a few hours of each other.

14 chain snatches in July, three recovered
In July, there were 14 chain snatchings reported in more than half a dozen police station areas. The police claimed to have arrested 32 miscreants in connection with chain and mobile snatching, but only three chains were recovered.
Despite continuous arrests, the incidents of chain, purse, and mobile snatching continue to occur in the city. Two snatchers were arrested in the Pataliputra police station area due to the vigilance of a car rider.
Not an organized gang, it is active area wise
According to the police, there is no organized gang behind the chain and mobile snatching incidents. Instead, two to three miscreants are active in different police station areas. When a few miscreants are caught, new incidents occur in other areas the next day.
Over the past few months, Patna Police has arrested over three dozen chain and mobile snatchers, but some of them continue to commit crimes even after being released from jail. Additionally, there are criminals whose history is not known.
Was shot for protesting against snatching
Despite serious incidents like mobile and chain snatching, the police have not taken the issue seriously. In the past, a woman was shot in Shastri Nagar for opposing chain snatching, and a contractor was shot and killed in Patrakar Nagar for protesting against mobile robbery.
Miscreants becoming active in the morning and after dark
Most incidents of chain snatching have occurred between 6 am and 9 am and after dark. The snatchings have taken place in different areas, such as SKpuri and Gandhi Maidan, while women were going to the temple or dropping their children off at school. The suspects, riding bikes, are believed to be between the ages of 20 and 23. The police are actively investigating all the cases.
