**Police Conducts Investigation**
In Sitamarhi, a wedding party that came from Gujarat returned back. The team of Bachpan Bachao Andolan and the police team threw water on the intentions of the wedding party and the girl’s family. As soon as the police received information about the arrival of the wedding party, the police team reached the spot and stopped the wedding. The incident took place in a village under the jurisdiction of the Parihar police station. The villagers claimed that preparations for child marriage were being made for a minor girl. The wedding party had come from Gujarat, but as soon as the local ward-level Child Protection Committee was informed, the Sitamarhi police along with Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi’s organization Bachpan Bachao Andolan team arrived at the scene and stopped the wedding.
**First Initiative by Bachpan Bachao Andolan Team**
The villagers revealed that information about child marriage was given to the Sitamarhi District Magistrate Richi Pandey and SP Manoj Kumar Tiwari by the Bachpan Bachao Andolan team. Under the direction of the DM and SP, an administrative team reached the spot. Until then, even the groom’s family had arrived in Sitamarhi from Gujarat with the wedding party. The complete ceremony of the wedding had been completed from the bride’s side. The wedding program was progressing continuously when the Superintendent of Police along with Child Marriage Prohibition Officer Sanjeev Kumar and District ASP and Nodal Officer Special Adolescent Police Unit Manoj Ram reached the wedding venue and immediately stopped the wedding.
**Police Also Prepared Documents**
The police team along with the Bachpan Bachao Andolan team reached the spot, prepared a document with the girl’s family, and stopped the child marriage of the minor girl. Along with this, the people present were informed about the Child Marriage Prohibition Act and the provisions of punishment for committing this legal offense. After this, the wedding party returned from there and the child marriage of the minor girl was stopped. Now, this incident is being discussed throughout the village.
