Education Department’s Efforts to Improve Education in Jamui, Bihar
The efforts made by the Education Department’s Additional Secretary in Bihar to improve the academic system and create a conducive learning environment in government schools have not had a significant impact, especially in remote schools. Many schools in Jamui are facing a shortage of teachers, with some being absent or leaving their duties midway.
Surprising Discoveries in School Inspections
During a sudden inspection of schools in Khaira block, the District Magistrate (DM) Rakesh Kumar was astonished to find that many teachers lacked interest in teaching the students. Some schools even had poor attendance records, and the headmaster of one school had left without taking leave. The DM personally visited several schools in the Naxal-affected area of Harhada Panchayat in Khaira block.
Deficiencies Found in Schools and Strict Actions Taken
The inspections conducted by the DM revealed several deficiencies in the schools. Taking note of these deficiencies, the District Magistrate has directed action to be taken against all the teachers. During his visit to Mahendra village in Harhada Panchayat, the DM reprimanded the headmistress for sitting in the sun instead of performing her duty. He emphasized the need for proper seating arrangements for students and quality of mid-day meals. The DM also inspected schools in other villages, including Dhepa Karhar, Jiling Tand, Mahengro, Jhilaar, and Pratappur.
