Postal Workers on Strike in Siwan
Postal workers in Siwan’s main post office are on strike after a physical altercation between the postmaster and assistant postal inspector last week. The main gate of the post office has been locked as a result of their strike, disrupting the office’s operations completely.
Customers Frustrated with the Situation
Customers from different locations have expressed their frustration after reaching the post office. Some customers mentioned traveling 8 kilometers, while others traveled 10 kilometers only to find out that all workers are on strike. One young man from Sultanpur Kala shared that he had a passport verification appointment scheduled for that day, unaware of the strike.
Customers Facing Challenges
Another customer mentioned traveling 15 kilometers to withdraw money for purchasing items for a religious ceremony during the month of Sawan. Many customers faced similar challenges due to the strike, causing inconvenience and delays in their tasks.
Inspection by Assistant Postal Inspector
On the other hand, postal workers revealed that the assistant postal inspector Amod Kumar visited the post office for inspection on Thursday. An altercation ensued between him and the postmaster Sanjay Kumar, leading to accusations from the workers that the inspector had no authority to conduct inspections. Until the news was reported, all workers remained on strike by noon.
