Protest by Municipal Workers in Bihar for Equal Pay and Pension Policy

Municipal workers in Bihar continued their strike for the second day, demanding equal pay for equal work, implementation of a pension policy, and an end to the contractor system. Under the banner of the Bihar State Local Urban Body Employees Union, the workers marched through the city carrying brooms. The procession toured various routes in the city and reached the municipal office, where people protested against the administration. Speaking at the rally, the president of the employee union, Rajkumar Ram, stated that the workers have been protesting for the past four days for their seven-point demand, despite repeated discussions with the administration.

Workers Demand Equal Pay and Pension Policy

The municipal workers in Bihar are demanding that the principle of equal pay for equal work be implemented. They argue that all employees, regardless of their job category, should receive the same salary for the same work. Additionally, the workers are calling for the implementation of a pension policy to provide financial security for retired employees. They believe that these measures will ensure fair treatment and better living conditions for all municipal workers.

Contractor System to be Abolished

Another key demand of the protesting workers is the abolition of the contractor system. They argue that this system leads to exploitation and unfair treatment of workers. By eliminating the contractor system, the workers believe that they will have better job security, improved working conditions, and a more equitable distribution of resources. They are urging the administration to take immediate action to address this issue.

Continued Strike and Protests

The strike and protests by the municipal workers in Bihar have continued for the second day. The workers have been actively demonstrating their demands by marching through the city with brooms, symbolizing their work. Despite discussions with the administration, the workers feel that their demands have not been adequately addressed. They are determined to continue their protest until their seven-point demand is met.
