Patna Transport Department has decided to install vehicle location tracking devices and emergency buttons in public transport vehicles under the Nirbhaya framework, but so far only 2765 vehicles have been equipped with these buttons. In addition, permits for 93 buses without this system have been suspended. From January 1, the crackdown on public vehicles has begun, resulting in a large number of trucks and buses disappearing from the roads. The department has also suspended the pollution certificates and registrations of all vehicles without these buttons and instructed all centers to cancel their licenses.
Monitoring from the command center, notices to schools: A command and control center has been set up at the department headquarters, from where live tracking of public transport vehicles is being carried out. The department has directed the districts to install devices in all school buses, and school administrators who fail to comply with this directive will be issued notices. This measure aims to ensure the safety of women and children traveling in public transport vehicles.
Emergency buttons in BRT buses: According to the Transport Department, vehicle location tracking devices and emergency buttons have been installed in BRT buses. This has enabled live tracking of these buses. Real-time monitoring of Bihar State Road Transport Corporation buses is being implemented. The process of equipping public transport vehicles with vehicle location tracking devices and emergency buttons is being rapidly implemented in Patna, Gaya, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, and Muzaffarpur, as these cities have a higher number of public vehicles.
Mandatory installation in school buses: The department has also directed the installation of panic buttons in school buses for the safety of school students. A meeting will soon be held between the department and school management, following which instructions will be issued to install alarms in public buses. Failure to comply with this directive will result in the suspension of operation of school buses and fitness certificates will not be issued for these buses.
Alarm in control room on pressing the panic button: In Patna’s public vehicles, an alarm will sound in the control room upon pressing the panic button, and complaints will be promptly addressed. The installation of emergency buttons and vehicle location tracking devices in vehicles will ensure the safety of women and other passengers. Live tracking of public transport vehicles will be possible, which will help in controlling overspeeding. In case of any danger to women or girls traveling in buses, taxis, or cabs, pressing the emergency button will sound an alarm in the control and command center, and immediate police assistance will be provided.
पटना सहित बिहार में सार्वजनिक परिवहन विभाग ने पूरे राज्य में व्हीकल लोकेशन ट्रैकिंग डिवाइस और इमरजेंसी बटन लगाने का निर्णय लिया है। यह फ्रेमवर्क निर्भया के तहत है और यह सुनिश्चित करेगा कि महिलाओं और यात्रियों की सुरक्षा में सुधार हो। पटना में अब तक 2765 गाड़ियों में यह बटन लगा है, जबकि 93 बसों का परमिट भी रोका गया है जिनमें यह सिस्टम नहीं लगा हुआ था। इसके अलावा, स्कूली गाड़ियों में भी इस बटन को लगाने का निर्देश दिया गया है और इस निर्देश का पालन नहीं करने वाले स्कूलों को नोटिस किया जाएगा। कमांड सेंटर में बजेगा अलार्म जब महिलाओं या लड़कियों को किसी तरह के खतरे का आभास होगा और तत्काल मदद के लिए पुलिस को निर्देश दिया जाएगा। इस नए फ्रेमवर्क के बाद से गाड़ियों की लाइव ट्रैकिंग शुरू हो गयी है और इससे महिलाओं और यात्रियों की सुरक्षा में सुधार हुआ है।
