Proper Care for Mango Trees

The sight of mango blossoms has already appeared on the trees, so farmers should start taking good care of them to ensure a good harvest. Neglecting them at this stage can lead to pest infestations in mango and litchi trees, resulting in various diseases that can cause significant losses to farmers. Dr. Paras Nath, an agricultural scientist at Purnia Bhola Paswan Agricultural College, has provided a solution to prevent such issues.

Preventive Measures for Pest Control

Dr. Paras Nath emphasizes the importance of special care for mango trees in the Seemanchal-Kosi region, where mango production is high. Early and proper care by farmers can lead to better fruiting and production in the future. It is essential to apply recommended pesticides before the appearance of mango blossoms to prevent infestations by pests like mango hoppers and mealybugs, which can destroy the crop. Timely application of pesticides can help protect the mango trees from various diseases.

Treatment for Mango Trees

To prevent damage and losses, Dr. Paras Nath advises farmers to use pesticides like imidacloprid, malathion, dimethoate, acephate, and thiamethoxam for pest control. Additionally, sulfur, copper oxychloride, carbendazim, and hexaconazole can be mixed for fungal control. Proper treatment for mango trees is essential, especially to combat diseases like tan spot. Regular application of remedies like neem oil and chemicals mixed with cotton in tree crevices can help eliminate tan spot diseases and ensure healthy mango trees.
